A historic town in Surrey located at the foothills of the North Downs in the commuter belt to London, is an old market town. It is part of a continuous urban zone with Redhill, the town adjacent. It lies within the Reigate Hundred. The hills of the Downs around here are some of the highest in the County, although dwarfed by Leith Hill in the distance. There are impressive hills like Colley Hill one mile north of town, and Reigate Hill two 1/2 miles east.
Reigate's town centre is full of shops, restaurants, and bars. The majority of shops are small, independently owned boutiques. The charity shops are a great place to find designer labels due to the wealth in the area. Reigate has two supermarkets, but still retains a village-like feel.
Woking is a town in Northwest Surrey, England is about 36 km (23 miles) from London. Its name likely comes from a Saxon landowner. Paleolithic artifacts are the oldest evidence of human occupation. The low fertility of sandy soils in the area meant that it was the least-populated part of the county by 1086.
Between the mid-17th century and the mid-19th century, new transport links, such as the Basingstoke Canal and the London to Southampton Railway Line, were built. In the mid-1800s, the London Necropolis Company started to sell the surplus land around the railway station.
